Dr. Mark Pitcher
Dr. Pitcher graduated from the School of Optometry at the University of Waterloo in 1992 with honours. He fulfilled his four years of undergraduate requirements at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where he was on the Dean's Honour Roll each year.
He qualified as a member of the National Optometric Honours Society, Beta Sigma Kappa 1989-1992, while going to school. He received his Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agent Certification from North Eastern State School of Optometry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma in 1993. He has been privileged to work as on optometrist in ophthalmological settings such as the Gimbel Eye Centre and the Jans Eye Center.
In 1999 he was able to practice in "our own town of Okotoks" by purchasing what was then called "Okotoks Optometry Centre" on Elizabeth Street. The practice grew and moved in 2004 to its present location and the name was changed to "Okotoks Eyecare".
He enjoys the many aspects of optometry, from the medical management of eye disease to the provision of specialty contact lenses for diseases such as keratoconus, to the management of post sergical patients. His wife, and four children have been members of the Okotoks community since 1995 and have enjoyed extensive involvment in church, Scouting, community sports and other comunity events through the years.
Dr. Danielle Gordon
Dr. Gordon attended the University of Waterloo, in her hometown of Waterloo, Ontario, where she completed her Bachelor of Science and her Doctor of Optometry degrees, both with honours. She was also the recipient of the silver medal for academic achievement from the Optometric Honours Society, Beta Sigma Kappa.
Following graduation in 2006, Dr. Gordon moved to Alberta and began practising in Morinville, where she
developed an interest in the management of ocular disease and contact lens care. She is an active member of the Alberta Association of Optometrists, and has been a member of the Calgary Society of Optometrists since relocating to Calgary in 2009.
She joined Dr. Pitcher, Dr. Prasad, and the team at Okotoks Eyecare in August 2009.
Dr. Asim Prasad
We are pleased to have Asim Prasad Join our team of Optometrists. A native Calgarian, Asim graduated from Optometry at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale Florida in 2008. Dr. Prasad received his bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from the University of Alberta. After working in industry for a short time, he decided to pursue his true passion: Optometry. Dr. Prasad also holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Vision Science from Nova Southeastern University.
His work experience at various challenging internships in the US have developed his skills for full-scope
Optometry. Dr. Prasad is a member of the Alberta Association of Optometrists, the Calgary Society of Optometrists, and is an active member of the American Optometric Association.
Dr. Prasad enjoys strength and conditioning training. Previously employed as a Personal Trainer, he likes sharing his knowledge on fitness and nutrition. He is an avid sports enthusiast and plays hockey, golf, soccer and tennis. He also enjoys spending quality family time with his family and wife.
